What kind of journey is myCamino for?
It is designed around multi-day walking and backpacking adventures, but any trip with photographs and optional GPS tracks can become an Adventure.
Which Macs are supported?
The current beta is a native macOS build for Apple Silicon Macs. Intel Macs and other operating systems are not supported by this beta.
Why does macOS say Apple cannot check the app for malicious software?
The current beta is unsigned and not Apple-notarized, so this Gatekeeper warning is expected. Dismiss the warning without moving the app to the Bin. Then open Apple menu → System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll to Security, click Open Anyway and authenticate. The button is available for about one hour after the failed launch. Each of the two myCamino apps must be approved separately. Follow the complete installation sequence on the download page and only approve a DMG obtained from this website whose checksum matches the published SHA-256 value.
Do I need a GPX track?
No. myCamino can build stages from GPS positions embedded in your photographs and videos. GPX recordings provide the richest route replay and statistics.
Are my photographs uploaded?
No. Your media remain in your local Adventure folder. Internet requests are used for map tiles and, when enabled, place-name lookup.
Can I change the automated result?
Yes. Rearrange media, tracks and music, edit the slide-show control file, tune map and playback settings, or correct tracks in the GPX Editor.
Is myCamino really free?
Yes. It is free and open-source under GPL-3.0-or-later. The release includes its corresponding source and third-party license information.
